Early "Bird" Special

Christmas shopping extravaganza (fun word!) for the month of September:

50% of canvas portraits when you purchase of the CD of all digital negatives!

So not only will you own the CD of all the images to have on file forever to do your own printing for your Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary gifts, but you will also have your choice of gallery-wrapped, fine art canvases for HALF PRICE!!

Since the image on the canvas wraps all the way around 1.5" thick stretcher frame bars, there is no need to spend the extra money ordering a custom frame! It is ready to hang on the wall as-is!

On my website I have the prices listed for traditional sized canvas prints, but you can order a canvas in ANY size! If you've had a difficult time finding that perfect wall-hanging to fit between your fireplace and entertainment center that could only accommodate an odd size, such as 12" x 32", what better solution than an image of your loved ones?

Here is a run-down of canvas portraits at full price....(so cut that price in half for September when you order your CD!)

8x10 $120
11x14 $165
16x20 $250
18x24 $275
20x24 $300
20x30 $350
24x24 $370
24x36 $425

For quotes on canvases of sizes not listed here, send me an email with your size in mind, and I'll get right back with you!

I've waited TWO MONTHS to blog this!

The September cover shoot for the Denton Connection! Of course I can't blog the outtakes until the magazine goes to print...so I wait, and wait, ....you get the idea, until NOW!! :)

This issue was about grandparents. Little red-headed S and her grampa were so sweet the way they interacted. He just loved on her and she reciprocated...until she got a little tired of seeing this big lens all up in her face! But never fear, a little bribe here and there with Skittles perked her up, which eventually lead to the purchase of a stuffed puppy, which eventually lead to ice cream!

This kid had us cracking up! BITING the ice cream cone! I'd have to say this is my personal favorite:

I love how you can so tell it's Denton's favorite ice cream shop we're in front of, and on the square, you can see the reflection of the courthouse, and just her going for it, ADORABLE!

Possibly even more classic though, is the picture that follows....

I don't think Grampa's shirt intended on being S's ice cream bib...

And of course, the best for last...the COVER!

* A little secret, the October cover is already shot, and so, here again, I must wait to share, though it's you all I must leave in suspense! mwah ha ha ....

How many weeks 'til October?

Because that's when this couple will find out if they are having a boy or girl!

C is going to be such a stylish mommy! She wears the cutest dresses/shoes and just has it all together. Definitely ready to meet their bundle!

We had so many laughs during this maternity shoot! Soon-to-be-daddy A is so funny, loves to tease... a super-sized kid! (He defends himself by acknowledging the fact that he grew up in a home with 3 brothers, no sisters. - Future baby, prepare to have fun with Daddy!)

(can't you tell how much he adores her?)

Camo Cutie

This little guy is a relative...well, err...distantly...through marriage! He is my little brother's - wife's - sister's - son (say that 5 times fast!)
*Pssst: how cute are the new daddy/son outfits! - but I would never say the word "outfit" to a guy, I don't think that's a term in their vocabulary...

This new mommy did a great job this morning. It's tough crawling all over the floor for portraits when you just had a C-Section one week ago! (but worth it for your little man.)

- doesn't he look just like Mommy? -

Holiday Sessions, Clothing, Questions?

Wow! August has been a busy month! Pregnant mommies, newborn babies, and toddlers galore! Just like I like it, that's my sweet spot! Gimme some baby drool any day, can't get enough of the little ones! (Not to say it isn't nice every once in a while where my subjects are old enough that I don't have to jabber on in a Mickey Mouse-esque pitched voice to get their attention!....)

As September nears, it is * officially * time to start thinking about holiday sessions. Now, I realize our heat is just hitting us for the summer, after our months of rainy days... but the fall is definitely the busiest (bring it on!) season of the year, and several of you have already conversed with me about holiday family sessions, and well, people, people, I'm only one woman, we must plan ahead! (just kidding...) - but really, evidently I'm late jumping on the band wagon, considering a certain crafty store, already has HALF of their merchandise dedicated to Christmas. Yes, you'd think MAYBE Halloween, but even too early for Thanksgiving, but no, lets start trimming the tree and air up the inflatable Santa for the front yard! (And this was in July that I first made this bewildering discovery!)

Okay, so back to non-sarcastic Julie...

*Holiday '07 Mini-Sessions info. to be
announced soon!*

~ Think early October, 30 mins. of fun, laughter, and family caught on "film" (digitally, of course), resulting in a Christmas card package rivaling that of Hallmark... wait, better than Hallmark! (How can you compare mass-produced art to your baby's smile? I ask you this!)
***************************************************************************

- Clothing
: I am asked this question with every session (as it is an important one!)
What should we wear?
The age-old answer that you may have grown up hearing is: solids, simple, match everyone in the same color...

NO, NO, NO!!!

Give me color, bold patterns, funky accessories!!! *Especially* on kiddos! Kids don't see in black/white, why make them wear a white button-up shirt and khakis??? Bring on the tutus, superman capes and hats, oh how I looooove kids/babies in HATS!

Now I understand, that in your family picture which will be hung in your living room all year, you may not want your son wearing a Batman mask, yes, save those for his 4-yr.-old birthday session, but definitely, wear varying colors, that blend as a family! A great example is the session posted below:

The kids are each wearing different colors, but the shirt on the cutie in the glasses ties them all together! I know shopping for more than one child for portraits is daunting, but browse the aisles, find a shirt with different colors in it that you like and go with that color scheme for the other family members! In my little 'ole opinion, the images result so much warmer and life-like when everyone has their own little personality on display with wearing their own style shirt. (And even still matching!)
:)

I love to hear from you guys! If you have any questions, comments, etc., shoot me an email (birdseyephotography@yahoo.com), or leave a comment below in the comments section.
I can't wait for the coming months! The moments yet to be captured, the smiles waiting to bring joy!

Brownie Locks

On Saturday, I met newborn Miss K. She was blessed with beautiful, long, brown hair! Lucky for her, her mommy enjoys making all sorts of cutesie hairbows. She has quite the assortment already, which I predict will come in very handy...just look at those gorgeous locks!

Mommy & Daddy have several helping hands. A, W, & D all dote over their lil' sis. And of course A is happy to have another girl in the house! (to watch her favorite movie with, don'tcha know...)

How does this sweet, brand new face not make your womb ache?
(well, those of you who are of the womb-owning gender...)

As always, also check out the galleries on the website for more of my favs.!

Did everyone have a blast shopping * tax-free * this weekend? Yesterday, the hubby and I braved the crowds here and here and got some great deals! Love the new fall clothes coming out! Definitely my favorite season to shop for!

Can I just say...

How much I love my girls?

No babies yet in this home, besides our furry, happy pups.

Ever playful...

Pearl is our rowdy girl. She LOVES to look out the windows and warn us if...oh say... a leaf is falling, let alone if a person, or...heaven forbid... a DOG innocently trots by before they get a verbal bashing by her. (You can't imagine her piercing bark), but no, really, we love her... she's cute...

Macy just loves to love. She is our first-born. Since her little sister came along, she no longer gets all of our attention, of course, but when we give Pearl a bone, (that keeps P busy for a good 10 mins.), then that is Macy's "alone" time. She gets so excited that she actually gets to stand a chance at playing catch. Which by the way, she's an expert at!..... see below -

Our little trickster girl! Just whenever Pearl gets involved, it becomes a tug-o-war and Mace-Face just ain't interested in playing that out, she just drops it at P's growl...kind of sad...
:(

But look how sweet she is! It's funny, Pearl is so bossy, and loud and rambunctious, but her happiest place on earth is in your lap. She just craves attention! (I suppose, Einstein, that's not a new theory... children acting up for attention!)

Macy does love her Papa...

Sorry this ended up being so long - every parent has a right to brag...
:)

Gorgeous, Goofy lil' Gal

This morning, I went to play with this silly girl!
*(my new blog header pic.! Green polka-dotted dress....come on here people! This is when cuteness meets cuteness! Yes
, that is possible!)

She had so many adorable pictures turn out, this became sort of a montage!

Power to the babies! Unite!

... fuhgettaboutit!

A hard days work, having to be cute all the time!

Waiting for H

Okay, first off, how cute is their house? (I realize this is a small corner that you have to base your opinion on...) I too live in an old home decorated with bold colors, so I felt at home! The wood floors and retro pieces they have, LOVE IT!

This sweet couple cannot wait to meet their little man! Baby H will be here in about a month and the nursery is complete and awaiting a little one to call it home.

At first E was not sure she wanted to do a maternity session, but I think she made the right decision. This is such a precious, beautiful time - the before. Once he's here and sleeping in the next room, the pictures will be there to recall the days when he was nestled within you, feeling his every nudge. (hey, that sounded sweet, so those of you not enjoying every nudge, keep the naysaying comments to a minimum!)
:)

I like to take time during the session to just focus on the mommy...and not mommy & belly, but just mommy...for the radiant, life-giving individual she is!

Fellow Shutterbugs!

Daughter E, (in front), studied photography in school, and her mom also has quite the knack for it as a hobby. It's so fun for me to get to chit-chat after the shoot with my clients. I love getting to know them better, as taking a person's portrait is such a personal experience - a little window into their life.

This lovely family does not have the chance to get together often. Since the girls have graduated, they have left and dug new roots, so I'm happy to have been called upon to document this evolving time in their family.

Until next time.....I'm off to pack for a relaxing weekend of jet skiing, tubing, and just hanging out @ the lake with friends. It is definitely a welcome treat to get to pack things up for a couple days and enjoy the outdoors - though I'll miss the Hubby! :(
(I return Sunday though, not too long of a hiatus!)

Puddin' Pop

Baby E is almost 7 mos. old! He's sitting up pretty well, but laying on the tummy, that's a sure-thing!

Big sister Z came along to help us make him giggle. (Remember that superstar?)
She did a great job....

Look at those sweet little gummies! Such a happy boy! Ya never know, I think his future career could be in the spotlight as well...
